Cairo by bus – Great Pyramids of Giza

A trip to Cairo truly allows you to connect with ancient monuments that ignite the imagination. The Great Pyramids of Giza are an architectural and engineering marvel that attracts tourists from all over the world. Built more than 4,500 years ago for the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, their construction still sparks debate among scholars. When visiting the Giza complex, you can not only admire the majestic pyramids but also see the famous Sphinx, which is said to guard the peace of these ancient structures.

Despite their incredible age (nearly five thousand years!), the Egyptian pyramids have been remarkably well-preserved. Until the late 19th century, the Pyramids of Giza were the tallest structures in the world, a record held until the Eiffel Tower was built in France. Moreover, they are the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World to have survived intact to this day. This title belongs specifically to the Pyramid of Khufu, also known as the Great Pyramid of Giza. Originally standing at 150 meters tall, with each side of the base measuring 230 meters, the pyramid weighs over six million tons! Just imagine the extraordinary effort and resources required to construct it. With this realization, it’s easy to see why the Egyptian pyramids were the first among the Seven Wonders of the World.
